Beacon Hill Couples Session

One of my favorite spots to photograph couples in Victoria is at Beacon Hill Park near the flag pole on the hill looking out over the ocean towards Hurricane Ridge in Washington. Especially when the city leaves the grass long!

When I did this photoshoot with M & D we, unfortunately, got there after the city had cut all the grass on the main part of the hill. But we made the best out of it and found a small patch of uncut grass for a few grassy picnic photos.

I absolutely love when couples bring their pets to shoots! I love dogs and adore animals, it is so much fun and such a great idea to bring your fur baby to your couple or engagement session and I highly recommend it.

If you're wanting to include your pet in your photos, I do highly recommend having a friend or family member there to help out with watching them when they aren't in the photos. It's always good to have an extra set of hands to help out on shoots, and sometimes pets can be a bit of a handful!

As the sun started to set, M & D enjoyed a quick dance in the golden hour light, then we moved from Beacon Hil to Finlayson Point and the rocky beach there.

M & D enjoyed the closing of golden hour on the rocky beach with a glass of their favorite wine, watching the sky fade from oranges to blues.

Wine, champagne, a cheese plate, sandwiches, any nice snack to enjoy with your partner while watching the sunset is a great idea to bring along for your couple session. It gives you something to do together and a bit of a break if you're not all about being in photos but you still want cute photos together.

For couples who are shy or don't know if they'll be completely comfortable being in front of a camera, you should plan an activity to do together during your session to warm up and catch you having fun together if posing isn't your thing. This can be anything from a simple picnic to lawn bowling or even swimming in a lake. Having an activity is a great way to document and show off something you both enjoy doing together and can help capture your relationship and more about you.

This session was so much fun with M & D.

I hope this gave you some inspiration on what to do during your session, or maybe a possible location for you!

Thanks for checking out this post and the photos. :)
